Peter Quilliam

My first business venture was selling plums, in their millions, from the giant tree in our backyard at our family home in Fielding. I was about 9 years old at the time and sold large paper grocery bags full for $0.50. Not entirely certain what my ROI was for my time and effort, not much for sure, but it planted a seed, so to speak.

After university I worked in orchards and seasonal work before getting my first proper job with the Department of Conservation. I learnt a lot of practical life skills here, some that I use to this day, but I needed more.

I became a SCUBA instructor, and this allowed me to travel the world.  I travelled to Melbourne where I lived for 12 years. Here I developed a love for business operations and worked up from the bottom of businesses to run operations and become the General Manager in a number of organizations. I worked in property education, and ran a business magazine before moving to the Maldives to run a dive and watersports operation at a 5 star resort.

From here I was the GM for an Eco resort in Mozambique. Nothing was able to prepare me for that experience, and sadly, from no fault of my own, I was only able to do that for 3 months - a story for another time.

This saw me move to the Cayman Islands where I ran a Marine Research Station for 2 1/2 years. Started a big game fishing charter business, and ran the car / scooter rental business and garage. As far as business sectors, I have been exposed to many. But one thing remains consistent in all the businesses I have run - if the customer doesn't have a good experience, they wont come back.

I have had the privilege of working with some amazing business mentors (and some pretty terrible ones as well), and every lesson, skill, strategy and personal interaction has led me to this place. I love business, I love buying them, growing them and creating something special for my customers.

I look forward to you joining me on this journey together.
